WINE AND VINEYARDS
There is an outstanding wine shop, well over
a hundred years old in La Tour du Pin
Local vineyards in the Savoie region (mostly
whites) and a little further all of the Cotes du Rhônes (South of
Lyon)
ACTIVITIES
• Walking: are marked paths just near the gite that take you straight
off into the local countryside, with its stunning mountain views, pleasant
valleys and wooded hillsides. There are also plenty of paths for mountain
bikes and good hacking and trail riding
The Saint Jacques de Compostelle path also passes nearbay, or you can
walk around Paladru lake.
• Chateau
du Passage
• Paladru lake (15 km) :
o Well known, popular holiday spot. There are beaches and watersports
available.
o The Paladru museum lake is also
well known and has exhibits from subaquatic excavations carried out at
the lakeside dating from the year 1000.
• Virieu, 5km: small town with a magnificent château: not
to miss !
• La Tour
du pin, 7 km : this small, typically dauphinoise style town (7,000
inhabitants) has a very nice church and the Equinoxe venue (cinema, concerts,
theatre)
• La
Côte Saint André , 30 km : very pretty town with a XIII
th century covered market, a hsitorical monument, a XIth century church,
the Berlioz museum (Berlioz lived here), chocolate paradise, the Berlioz
festival (end of August)…
• Morestel:
city of painters and medieval city: ramparts, medieval tower
• Crémieu
: convents, castle
